In addition to welcoming many new homeowners to our growing community, we celebrated two big openings this year in Mantua — a new high school and a new amenity park for this planned community 2024 recap!
Planned Community 2024 Recap
The Commons Amenity Park opened this summer, complementing the community amenities. The new park features something for everyone, with pickleball, a sports court, playgrounds, and a pavilion that has quickly become a resident favorite for friendly hoops competition or playgroup fun. And of course, we made a big deal about the opening, inviting residents and the public for “Uncommonly Good Fun” that included an old-fashioned picnic, mini golf, arts and crafts, a giant Lego game, and more.
It seemed like the whole town of Van Alstyne was excited about the opening of the new high school in Mantua as there was much buzz before the opening and people gathered to tour the new school. The expansive two-story campus measures 273,000 square feet and offers a success-focused learning environment. Students can take career and technical education classes in broadcasting, robotics, engineering, culinary arts, and more, as well as earn career certifications in welding, HVAC, OSHA, and cosmetology with the Grayson College South Campus right across the school parking lot. The district plans to add more athletic facilities in the near future.
With the school’s opening, the former high school campus is now a junior high, serving seventh and eighth graders. The former middle school is now an intermediate campus devoted to the unique needs of fifth and sixth graders.
And while both events gave residents plenty to celebrate, those openings weren’t the only festivities we enjoyed in Mantua this year. We offer an engaging lifestyle program packed with holiday festivals, family-friendly movie nights, group fitness classes, wellness workshops, and plenty of “just-because” events. A highlight was our Memorial Day event that kicked off the summer in Mantua. Residents enjoyed a full day of fun at the Veranda pool, with plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained and the laughter flowing.
As we close out 2024, we look ahead to a fabulous 2025. While there won’t be a new high school opening, there will be plenty of camaraderie as neighbors (or as we call them, friends) gather at one of the parks, stroll our trails, host birthday parties at the pavilion, chill by the pool and get active on the sports court. More resident events are on the way, too, because that’s just how we roll in Mantua! You can expect more beautiful homes, as well, with our builders — David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, Perry Homes, and Risland Homes — continuing to raise the bar on exceptional home design and quality construction.
Happy New Year, everyone! We hope to see you in 2025.
